After this week of learning the belay system, and practicing falling and climbing, what are your concerns? Please consider safety issues, communication with your group, your fears.
I think my group is pretty good with belaying, falling, and climbing. The problem is that I have a quiet voice so whenever i climb up, my group can't hear me. Also, i'm so short that i can't reach the rocks.
I am really excited about climbing! I have leArned a lot so far and can't wait to start our rotations. I trust my group, we know what we are doing. It is sometimes hard to get a good grip on the rocks and some of them Are loose. I would really like to try the firecracker ladder. Overall i don't have any major fears. Michelle obos
All our group members practiced belaying and being the anchor, so I rust them. I don't think that they would let me fall. I'm still scared of climbing all the way to the top because I feel like when I fall from such a great height, something might go wrong. But all in all, I have learned a lot and I'm excited/nervous to climb all the way to the top
I'm really looking forward to climbing all the walls and especially the partner ladder. I'm not concerned with the belay system and I'm pretty trusting of my group that they'll do their part and keep me and themselves safe. So far the group is communicating well and I'm sure we'll continue to do so.
I don't really have any fears at this point. I trust my group. I guess my fear is trusting myself with tieing the knot for my safety but again my grouup helps me with the knots so i thank them for that. (thanks brittney) hhaha but yeah no big fears yet. Bev Hope:)
After practicing falling and climbing, I trust my group 100%.I know that we work well together.I dont have any cooncerns about our belay system . The only thing stopping me from climbing to the top of the walls is my own fear. I know my group would catch me because I've seen them catch everyone so far. I like that my group is supportive if someone gets scared we try and talk them through what the next step would be for them or if they decide to come back down, everyone still encourages them. -Dominika Daniel
My only real concern is that some of these walls are actually pretty difficult. Everyone in my group seems to know what they're doing pretty well, and they are all very encouraging, so I'm not really nervous. Looking down when you're so high up is definitely the scariest part.
The real problem I have is just that the walls sometimes have some stripped rocks which make it harder to use. Really communication and the belay system has really been amazing and has done wonders for our group and I'm very happy about it.
After the climbing this week, I feel there just needs more practice belaying to feel completely safe. Our communication is good because we tell eachother when something is wrong. My fears are not having my anchor ready and like not being able to sto the climber falling. Also, not being caught when falling. Besides these, I like climbing a lot. I can't wait to go on the different walls. -Maggie Lundholm
Climbing is fun, however, this unit is difficult. Belaying, tying people in, and making sure everything is set is mind-boggling. I concerned that people with get hurt because of silly mistakes. My big concern is belaying incorrectly. I am hoping I will master belaying by the end of next week.
I was glad my group chose to climb one of the less difficult paths because I'm not sure if I could handle the other ones. Although, after I belayed I gained reassurance in the safety system and felt more at ease.
It's really hard to trust someone with your life when your already halfway up the wall and the person who's belaying you is learning how do it as you climb. Gotta learn how to get up wall 1
My group works really well. I know if i fall they will be there to catch me. A lot of people have fell when we climbed including me and everyone was caught. Now I feel very comfortable with climbing and I trust my group.
I don't have any concerns as far as my group. I trust them and our communication is good. My only fear is looking down once you start climbing, I hope I can get over being scared of the height.
I feel just as comfortable and trust the system as much when climbing as I did when rappeling (which is good). I'm not as worried about the height factor anymore because you're almost always looking up while climbing. However, I am still worried about not being strong enough to get over some walls. Hopefully with some more practice I'll find easier ways to climb.
I think my group was good at belaying this week. I trust my group, and we make sure we are ready before anyone climbs. My one concern for the group is that we will forget one day and bad things will happen. I hope we will catch ourselves before that happens though. My concern for myself is that I will be stuck on a wall due to my height. I am sometimes too short to reach some parts of the wall, but I believe I will be able to overcome the obstacle when it comes.
I don't have any concerns with my group because I trust all of them. We have caught everyone who has fallen and we are very supportive of each other. Our group communicates well and the people on the ground try to help the climber as much as they can. We are very safe and make sure everything is in place before we start climbing.
I dont have any problems with climbing so far. I like having new groups but it will take time to completely trust everyone. I really want to learn how to get up wall one though! Caroline Roberts
it was scary at first ,climbing up the wall, but after we started to trust me more people from our group we got comfortable. something im scared is dropping a person while belaying.
I think that, overall, my group is doing really well with climbing, falling, and belaying. Belaying is the hardest part for me because, sometimes, I fly off the ground when the climber falls, but I'm getting better and the anchor always helps me out.
I think so far, everything has gone well in our climbing unit. Our group works well together and we always help each other out. We all communicate very well when we are either climbing or belaying. Safety wise, we are all very aware of how the system works and easily make sure that everyone climbs safely. The only thing I find difficult, for myself, is helping the other members of my when they need help when they are actually on the wall. I want to make sure they feel comfortable, but also make sure they do the best that they can.
My group did a pretty good job on belaying, climbing and keeping each other safe. The group members are really supportive. The problem I had is climbing,I'm okay with belaying, but it's still hard for me to climb, and that's the part I need to work on.I don't know how long it will take to overcome my fear, but anyway,I'll just try it.
I don't have any concerns with my belaying group other than the fear that we might progressively lose the complete focus we have right now because we are just learning it as opposed to in two or three weeks when we think we are pros and might get lazy or sloppy. Otherwise I think we are a really good focused group
i dont have any fears with my climbing group. i really like to climb and trust my group to catch me if i fall. i think the saftey system is very fail proof and is good
