Considering the climbing unit that we are about to embark on,let us know on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being very scared to 10 not scared at all, where are you at and why? Also what are your expectations for yourself and your classmates for our climbing unit?
10! I am very excited to start the climbing unit! I am not afraid of heights and I'm not afraid of a challenge. I expect to learn a lot and to have a good time. I have always wanted to go skydiving, and climbing is one step in that direction.

On a scale to 1-10 I am a 5! I am at a five because I am super excited to climb, but that is when I am safely on the ground. It's a whole different story several feet above the floor. Some expectations for me are knowing everything about the climbing systems. Like making sure I know how to work the system and making the knots. I expect my classmates to do the same for everyone's safety. I hope the class knows how to work the systems and how to set up the preparation process before we start climbing.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say that I am at a 4. I'm excited to start climbing because it looks more fun than rappelling, but I am scared because I'm going to have to climb so high up and the belay system doesn't seem as secure as the belay system for when we rappelled. I expect myself to know what to do before I start climbing (the knots, how to get set up) and I also expect my group members to know what to do while I am climbing.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably an 8. I love doing these activities such as climbing and rappelling. I'm someone who loves the challenge and excitement. Even if something is on the edge for me, I do it anyway for the trill. My expectations are just to have fun and hope no one gets hurt.
ReplyDelete-Maggie Lundholm
i'm probably a 6. I am really excited to climb but the height makes me nervous cause I'm afraid of heights. I expect myself to learn how to tie all the knots and get rid of my fear for heights! My expectation from my group members is not to let me fall.

I'm a 5. I am scared of some of the things we will do but i know i will do it because otherwise i might regret not doing it. I'm ready to get over some fears. I expect everyone in the class to pay attention to the knots and help each other make sure we don't fall. I expect that we will help each other out esp. those that are scared. I know I'm going to be scared the first time I go but hopefully it won,t be as bad as I think. Reppalling was scary at first but I got over that fear. It was a lot of fun!

I think I am a 5. I am scared of heights, I also find it exhilarating! I'm very excited to climb. I know it will take some time to get used to, but I'm ready for the challenge! When I saw that it was the rope ladder that we were going to climb on, I admit I was pretty scared, but after seeing that I will be secure and almost "flying" I was very excited. I can't wait!

I'm at a 6. I'm excited to start climbing. But I know when it comes to my time, I will most likely be a little more than nervous about it. My expectations are to learn how to safely climb, trust my classmates, and have fun. I hope I become comfortable with climbing to be all set for Devil's Lake!

From a scale to 1-10 i think i am at a 5.
ReplyDelete1) because when i saw caroline do it, it didnt look that bad
2)i know that i can trust my group members
i expect my classmates to participate more instead of watching others do all the work
-Yvonne Kang
I think I'm an 8 or a 9. I'm very excited to start climbing. I had a good time rappelling so I think climbing will be just as much fun or more. I find this to be thrilling and I'm looking forward to climbing.
ReplyDelete-Allie Koruna
I'm at a 8. I had fun rappelling and climbing is the same concept. Also when i looked Caroline doing it, it looked kind of easy. For climbing, we need more teamworks and we have to pay attention when a person is going to let go of the rope. I think we(class) can handle it just like rappelling.
ReplyDeleteSophia Kim
I'm probably at a one or two. Rappelling was fun but I was scared of it. I don't know how will I do on climbing unit, but at least I will try my best to overcome my fear and accomplish the goal.
ReplyDelete---Jennifer Meng
I'm at a 10 is. Because of rappelling, i feel really secure with the system and I'm excited to get started. I think everyone in our class will be very aware of whats going on and ready to make sure that everyone is safe.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably a 7 or an 8. Just based off watching Caroline, it doesn't look too bad. I know it might be a little bit different from the top looking down though. I might be a little nervous, but I'm sure when I do it it'll be a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI just expect my group members and myself to pay attention and know what needs to get done for this to be safe and successful, and fun!

On a scale from 1-10 im would like to say a soild 6. Just because of the things we're done in the past built me up to a place where i feel a lot better with myself and my group and the class in genral.
ReplyDeleteMy expectations are just to have more fun and to take more daring risk, and have a good time with my peers around me.
--Bevy Baby! :)
On a scale of 1-10, I would say that I am at 9.99. I;m not scared of the climbing, because I've done it before, but there is always the slight chance that something could go wrong. My one expectation is that no one gets hurt.
ReplyDelete-Rob F
On a scale of 1-10 I'm probably at a 9. I trust my classmates and the system to keep me safe, but I don't really trust myself as much. I hope that the climbing unit won't require a lot of physical strength because I know I'm pretty weak. The heights might be another challenge for me because I usually get dizzy when looking down from a high place. Other than that, I'm looking forward to the new unit.
ReplyDelete-Danny Fattal
I think I'm at a 7 right now. At first I was nervous to even think about climbing that high but after I watched Caroline climb, I regained some confidence in the belay system. I trust my group members, and I think everything will be fine.
ReplyDelete- Yuliya Lyashchun
I would rate myself as a level 8 because i do trust people and i know the things we are taught will prepare us for what we will be doing and I trust my classmates. It does get scary when you do things for the first time but after doing things once I am open to almost anything.
ReplyDelete-Britanny Bailey
I would definitely say that I'm a ten because I'm not afraid of heights and I've climbed rock walls before. Also, I know tons of other students have done all the climbing activities and been safe and had a blast. I trust H to teach everyone the correct safety precautions, trust that my classmates will belay me correctly, and I trust myself to not get too worried and psych myself out.
ReplyDelete~Taryn Lempa
I believe I'm a 10, especially since I already climbed last week! I knew it wouldn't be that bad since H was belaying me but I trust that everyone will do just as well with keeping me safe as they did for rappelling. I'm so excited for this unit!
ReplyDelete-Caroline Roberts
I am a 10 when I begin to climb, but when I hook myself to the rope and begin to start it drops down to a 6. The fear of what could happen if something goes wrong does not set in until I am actually in the situation. Then after I complete it I feel beter about it again. I just want everyone to stay safe and for no one to get hurt.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably at a 5 for this unit. I love climbing, I climb all the time so the height aspect doesnt scare me at all, but the fear that maybe my group at the moment I fall might not be paying attention or that something somewhere goes wrong is my only fear. Im sure that we will get the hang of it over time and since the transition between getting into the climbing and falling and catching is slow, we will be fully prepared.
ReplyDeleteErin Rogers
I'm a 9, I'm excited to have started this unit, I feel that I'm more comfortable because I've done rock climbing before and I now have the experience to know what to do, and how to get set yp from rapelling.
ReplyDelete-Kelsey Clay
I'm at a 5 right now because i am sure of myself that i know what to do but im not sure that my group will know what to do.
