Obstacle Course

Share your thought with us about today's activity. Consider the following, but you are not limited to these things. Trust issues, your responsibilities, the leaders responsibilities, communication, respect, being blindfolded, why did you choose the leaders you chose? Over all how was this activity? What did you like about it and why? What did you learn about yourself and others in your group?

  1. Today's activity was really fun, and there was definitely a visible improvement from the other trust activities. I was a leader and I felt like my blindfolded classmates really trusted me. Plus, since we've done multiple blindfold activities, I think that we've all learned the most effective methods of following/leading eachother such as following voices and linking arms. When I first saw the obstacle courses, I felt slighty worried because it looked seriously difficult, but through good communication and trust my group went through it really smoothly.

  2. I thought the activity was fun, i was good on the trust. i trust the leaders, but not the maze that we had to do, but it wasn't all that scary. It felt like it took forever to get through so i was getting a little fustrated. it didnt really matter who were the leaders because i trust everyone in my group. there was some good communication but some were a little late on my part, and sometimes confusing. I didn't like being blind folded for that long, but the beginning was fine.

  3. I enjoyed today's activity a lot. I think it was my favorite activity despite my reluctance to trust my leaders. Since they weren't allowed to touch us, I was scared that I was going to fall since they couldn't catch me. This led me to not trust my leaders even though they always acted responsibly to make sure we didn't hurt ourselves. After being blind-folded for a while I kind of felt suffocated, so next time I would choose to be a leader.

  4. As a leader, this activity was quite a challenge because it was my other group member and my responsibility to get 4 team members safely through balance beams, swings, and more. I felt like the blind folded team members gave complete trust to us, my partner and I. I liked this team building activity because it showed how much we grew as a class to trust and believe in one another. One thing I learned is that everyone is looking out for one another and I should not forget about that while climbing.

  5. Hi. I thought the activity went well, with the acception of a few people falling from a few places. I was one of the leaders, because it didn't look like anyone else wanted to be. I possibly could have done a bit better with direstions, but I believe that the rest of the group did a great job.

  6. This activity was great in the sense that I felt like my climbing group came to trust eachother more. I was able to be a leader and I felt like my group was comfortable with mine and michelle's way of getting people safely through the course. Or communication was clear in my opinion because we notified every drop or difference in the walkway while being loud enough. Overall, I liked this activity because it strengthened our smaller groups.

  7. I really enjoyed the obstacle coarse activity from Friday. I was one of the leaders and I felt that my group trusted me to get them all the way around the coarse safely. Maggie and I communicated well to our group each and every step and what the blindfolded people had to look out for. This activity definatly tested our trust in one another, but I think that was a good thing because overall everythying went well.

  8. I liked this activity. I was one of the leaders. It was my first time being a leader and it's a lot harder then i thought. Like when you're trying to tell the group members to move to the left or right you have to realize your left is their right, so there can be a little bit of a miscommunication there. Overall we made it through the obstacle course without any issues. This activity requires a lot of trust.I'm glad my group trusted me enough to let me help lead. I think it'd be interesting to be blind folded. I trust everyone in my group and i'm sure they'd all make good leaders.

  9. The activity went over really well. I trust all of my group and this obstacle course really proved it. Our leaders told us to do certain things, like climb or swing, and we were surprised to have to do it all blindfolded. But we made it, with no problem. The leaders told us everything we needed to know, so we had nothing to worry about. I have trusted my group all along. But now going back to climbing with much harder challenges I feel even more confident in my group.

  10. I liked the obstacle course and I thought it was really fun. The feeling of not being able to see and not knowing what to do is weird. I wanted to take off my blind fold so many times but I knew I couldn't. I knew I could trust the leaders in my group to help me but I just wanted to be able to do it myself. I think a lot of people would rather want to do things themselves than ask someone for help. That's why a lot of people dont' ask for help. No one wants to seem incapable. But no one is super man so sometimes help is needed. Without my group i would not have been able to complete the course and sometimes I need their help and i have no problem asking for help

  11. I really liked this activity. It was really scary at times, but I had to trust that my leader wouldn't make me do anything too dangerous and when she said that she's there if I fall, that she really is there to help me keep balance. I had to trust my leaders a LOT because I was blindfolded. It felt like I was in a different place when I couldn't see. I was really scared when I was going on the beam because I didn't know how high I was and how long the beam was. This activity needed a lot of trust and communication, without it the activity would be impossible.

  12. This activity was one of my favorites! I thought it'd be fun and challenging to be a blindfolded person. I trusted my group's leaders to bring us through the course safely. Our communication was good and they were specific with their directions so the people blindfolded knew exactly where to go. When we got to the end and took off our blindfolds, I was surprised at what the different obstacles looked like. They felt a lot more difficult when we had the blindfolds on!

  13. This activity was fun to do since our class has gotten comfortable with each other over this school year. I thought it was a lot easier to trust the leaders. I can also trust anyone in the class to be a leader now. This activity was really challenging and I really enjoyed it!

  14. I was one of the leaders for my group, and my group seemed to trust the leaders to make sure they wouldn't get hurt. Most of the time was spent warning people in my group about where to step up or step down and explaining how to get through the obstacles. I think our communication was pretty good since the group was able to easily get past most of the obstacles. I enjoyed this activity and would like to try being blindfolded if we ever did it again.

  15. I feel that when we were blindfolded we trust each other more than when we could see with our eyes because in that case we depend more on each other. When we are able to see, we can determine what to do and what not to do mostly by ourselves, but when we are blindfolded, we have to listen to instructions and guided by others since we don’t want to get hurt. That also built on to our mutual trust and made us more likely to follow others’ steps. Anyway, the activity was fun and we enjoyed it. The leaders we chose for our group were also did a great job.

  16. Honestly, it was very scary and even intimidating at times because since many people couldn't see anything, it was very hard to feel your way around without a partner. That's exactly what I like about it. What I learned is that trust is key.. If you don't have trust, many obstacles in life won't be as successful as you really want them to be. :)

  17. I thought that my group did a very nice job cooperating and trusting each other. Our leaders did a great job of explaining things in detail, communicating, and making us feel safe. I really enjoyed this activity and I think it helped our group to bond more.

  18. I actually really enjoyed this activity. I was kind of worried about all the obstacles when I heard what we were going to do, but I trusted the two leaders in my group and everything went way better than I expected it to. There were a lot of moments when the leader would tell me what I was going to have to do, and I would think, "no way!" but they gave really good instructions to get everyone through with a lot of success. It was really fun!

  19. I thought this was a fun activity. It reminded me of a game I used to play in gym class in elementary school. I like my group and we get along well so it was easy to be directed by my two leaders. Our group worked well together by telling eachother what to look out for, or where the next step was. I hit my head on the high bar at the end, but it's allllllll good.

  20. I really liked this activity. I trusted everyone in my group and our leaders because of past activities and because they are the same people in my climbing group. Our leaders communicated with us really well, and so did the rest of the group even though none of us could see eachother

  21. From this activity i learned a lot. In the past i have been someone who is not blindfolded and a leader because I would be too afraid to trust the leaders.. but this time I was blindfolded, and it wasn't totally horrible. The leaders where chosen by themselves actually but served their purpose well and I did feel i could trust them. As leaders they needed to be very specific with their directions; if they say step about a foot down directly below ur right foot as opposed to saying step down now. As time progressed during this activity I feel our leaders picked up on the challenge of explaining where we are going and got much more descriptive and cautious for our sake. Our part was pretty easy, all we had to do was listen to our leaders and trust them to tell us what to do and how to do it. I feel that this activity did increase our awareness of just how important communication is not only for this but for cliombing and whatever we may do in the future.
